Educate employees on how to prevent health problems through the use of safety training programs. They also investigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement OHSA policies and programs.

  • Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis.

Description:

The CNC Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operation of multiple CNC machines across both the bean and cross-laminated timber plants. This position is responsible for planning, training, and implementing procedures in the areas of safety, quality, and production. This position works with other departments to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of production schedules, project files, and quality/ traceability reporting. This position is responsible for the maintenance and inventory control of all CNC tooling required to manufacture across all machine centers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains staff by training and development of plant machine center operators and support staff to create effective teams and efficient shift production.
  • Communicate with Production Coordinator and Production Manager for status updates and production reports.
  • Communicate with the programming department to optimize programming requirements and CNC tooling.
  • Maintains high standards for a safe working environment at all times, trains others, and enforces policies.
  • Ensures operators have the information, tools, and resources necessary to meet production requirements.
  • Creates and implements CNC operational SOPs.
  • From time to time can adjust CNC program files and sequencing. May be required to add and/ or adjust geometry for QC samples, extra cuts for waste management, out of square paneling.
  • Maintains equipment and tooling operational readiness and monitors machine for maintenance requirements.
  • Maintains, inspects, and repairs all tooling for all CNC machine centers.
  • Maintains inventories for all CNC tooling knives, and consumable wear items.
  • Submits purchase request to maintenance superintendent and plant manager to control inventories for all CNC equipment and tooling.
  • Runs calibration of all CNC machine centers and tooling as required by machine center manufacturers requirements.
  • Reviews production information and Kanban status in Zoho.
  • Manages all Quality control requirements at each of the CNC work centers. May be required to measure cut product against the shop drawings to ensure accuracy of machine center. measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished panel dimensions, or numerical control sequences.
  • Removes trimmings and falloff during interruptions as needed to avoid machine damage. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by managers.

 Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • 2+ years of experience with CNC operations.
  • Knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products.
  • Cad software application programming experience desired.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Highly proficient with the use of measuring tools and other basic tools.

Summary

The Machine Center Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Center Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion
  • Operate tools in order to aid in the manufacturing process
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery
  • Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
  • Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high-quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform maintenance
  • Perform quality control, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in the work area
  • Cross-train in other machine centers such as Sort Line, Finger Joint, Press, Finish, and CNC
  • Overseeing training of new or Junior Machine Operators
