Description:

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate budgets, proposals, and hard bids for the Smartlam Mass Timber Specialist (MTS) team. This person will be expected to ensure that Smartlam has an accurate scope of material, perform material takeoffs, prepare bid documents, and complete bid documents before the due date.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews plans and performs material takeoff from project drawings for CLT and glulam packages with all subcomponents of package included with review by Sr. Estimator.
  • Work in partnership with MTS and engineering teams to provide alternate or VE options for bids and prepare material takeoff prepared for each option.
  • Examine and analyze project drawings and specifications and incorporate them into sales template inputs and material takeoff.
  • Communicate to MTS project specific bid criteria such as lumber sourcing requirements, sustainability requirements, need for delegated design and specialty scope items.
  • Requesting quotes from suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors for buyout scope
  • Complete bid form for RFP’s and ensure compliance with all bid documents.
  • Prepare Smartlam bids before the due date and ensure specifications and scope of material takeoff are reflected in scope section of bid with project specific notes for specialty scope or exclusions.
  • Update bids as needed by MTS to incorporate additional options requested by the customer.
  • Participate in upkeep of pricing and costing databases.
  • By request of MTS communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors to review bid scope.
  • Lead Margin Review Meetings with Smartlam team to review proposal and determine final margin.

Description

The Production Supervisor manages all operators and production activities on the plant floor during their designated shift. Job Description

The CNC Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient fabrication of CLT parent panels into child panels and other mass timber component fabrication. He/she reliably meets production schedules and targets, while producing precise products according to design and shop drawing requirements. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain product flow and meets production schedule
  • Follows CNC operational SOPs
  • Maintains operational readiness and monitors machine for maintenance requirements
  • Identify defects in panel or product before milling
  • Downloads and reviews toolpaths making modifications for shifts in pieces to avoid defect and creating trim cuts. 
  • Run simulations prior to cutting as required
  • Runs calibration checks as needed
  • Maintain production information and Kanban status in Zoho
  • Accurately labels child pieces from parent pieces
  • Effectively communicates with supervisor, programmer and design team
  • Measure dimensions of finished panels to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished panel dimensions, or numerical control sequences.
  • Identify remove and replace dull cutting tools.
  • Removes trimmings and falloff during interruptions as needed to avoid machine damage.  
  • Keeps inside of CNC machine, tools, and overall system (tables, cable trays, etc.) clean

Summary:

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is accountable for keeping the production machinery functioning in a proper manner to ensure manufacturing schedules and targets are met. This role focuses on promoting equipment longevity and operational efficiency through preventative maintenance and downtime minimization. Proficiency with equipment maintenance, technical understanding, troubleshooting, dealing with uncertainty, and a safety-conscious mindset are required. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures operation of machinery and equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, VFDs, soft starts and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates the source of problem by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation, using precision measuring, and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, squares, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straightedges, multimeters, and basic electrical component programing knowledge.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation, welders, torches, grinders, drills, hydraulic press, and all other tools/equipment associated with Industrial Maintenance.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supply inventories, by reporting stock needs to Purchasing; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing Purchase Request and verifying receipt.
  • Provides mechanical and electrical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and by establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment, complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Must work well with limited supervision.

Summary
The Accounting Assistant position is a new role for our Montana Division. The right candidate for this position will own all aspects of accounts payable, inventory and processing payroll semi-monthly. Supports to ensure all deadlines are met with the highest degree of accuracy. This position generates a high volume of transactions daily. He/she must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, excellent internal and external customer service. Strong understanding of Financial Statements, Accounting principles and adhere to confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to confidentiality policy.
  • Own the Accounts Payable process: to include, but not limited to verification, coding, data entry, payment approvals, payment, and all documentation for complete detailed tracking. 
  • Assist with credit card charges, employee expense reports and statement reconciliations. 
  • Prepares and prints accounts payable reports; reviews and reconciles periodic reports to maintain current reconciliation status for cash and disbursement accounts.
  • Issue, verify and receive production and project purchase orders.
  • Assist with the raw material purchase orders, receiving, inventory adjustments and month end reconciliation of cost. 
  • Responds to all vendor and employee inquiries regarding invoices, expenses, and check requests; resolves invoice discrepancies.
  • Assist on upcoming software implementations and other projects assigned. 
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions. 
  • Administer payroll according to company pay period schedule. Responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation of payroll.
  • Checking timesheets for accuracy.
  • Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. 
  • Compile or pull various payroll reports from HRIS system, distribution of reports accordingly.  
  • Assist with front desk coverage as needed; answer phones and help direct visitors. 
  • Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, faxing, typing, and mailing.

  • Assist with special accounting projects as needed.
